KCB, NBK Commit KShs 11 Million to 2025 Rhino Charge
KCB Bank Kenya https://ke.kcbgroup.com/, the KCB Foundation, and National Bank of Kenya (NBK) have pledged a combined sponsorship of KShs 11 million for the 2025 Rhino Charge event.
This exciting off-road competition will take place this weekend in Baringo County. The sponsorship covers two competing cars. It shows the banks’ strong support for motorsports and sustainable mobility in Kenya.
Backing Innovation and Sustainability
Out of the total sponsorship, KShs 10 million will support car no. 44 (AK44), driven by veteran off-roader Adil Khawaja. Meanwhile, the KCB Foundation donated KShs 1 million to back EV Explorers. This team is the event’s first-ever electric vehicle entry, driven by Nick Foley. This investment highlights a growing focus on innovation and environmental responsibility.
KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru said, “We support Rhino Charge because sport drives innovation and creates positive impact. By investing in events like these, we promote motorsports while helping conserve the environment. This aligns with our broader commitment to sustainability.”

The 2025 Rhino Charge will feature at least 65 teams. Top drivers like Ian Duncan, Eddy Verbeek, Paul Foley, and Mahesh Bhatti will compete. The event begins on May 30 with scrutineering and map distribution. The main race takes place on May 31. On June 1, a prize-giving ceremony will honor the top three finishers and announce funds raised.
Driver Adil Khawaja praised KCB’s support, saying, “Their commitment is vital for environmental conservation. We are excited to compete and highlight the need to protect Kenya’s natural heritage.”
Supporting Kenya’s Water Towers
NBK https://nationalbank.co.ke/ Managing Director George Odhiambo stated, “We proudly support Rhino Charge for over five years. The event reflects our values of resilience and environmental care. It also helps protect Kenya’s mountain ecosystems, known as the Water Towers.”
Rhino Charge is an annual 4×4 competition. Entrants must visit 13 checkpoints scattered across roughly 100 km² of rough terrain within 10 hours. The funds raised support Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, which works to conserve and protect Kenya’s vital mountain ranges.
