Industry leaders, policymakers, and technology stakeholders gathered at the 15th Connected Africa Summit at the Edge Convention Centre. They called for the removal of regulatory and structural barriers to unlock seamless connectivity across the continent.

The summit remains a key platform for advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda. Speakers highlighted the continent’s strong potential to build a unified digital market.

They noted that Africa already has key advantages. These include a youthful population, rising digital adoption, and expanding infrastructure. However, they stressed the need for stronger collaboration and policy alignment to accelerate progress.

Public-Private Collaboration in Focus

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between governments and the private sector.

“To unlock Africa’s full potential, we must deepen collaboration,” he said. “This will help create enabling policies, strengthen infrastructure, and accelerate public sector digitization.”

During the summit, Safaricom showcased its converged digital services. The model brings together its Enterprise Business, Financial Services, Public Sector Digitization and Transformation, and Technology teams.

This integrated approach positions the company as a single partner for governments. It aims to deliver secure, scalable, and citizen-focused digital solutions.

Call for Inclusive Digital Transformation

Kithure Kindiki, Deputy President of the Kenya, called for stronger public-private partnerships. He also urged stakeholders to involve citizens in shaping digital transformation.

“The public sector does not have a monopoly on resources,” he said. “We must collaborate with the private sector and citizens to achieve true inclusion.”

As the summit enters its third day, stakeholders continue to push for coordinated action. Leaders agree that Africa’s digital future depends on policy alignment, shared vision, and sustained collaboration.
