Kenya’s AI Startups Join Google Accelerator Program
Google Selects 15 African Startups Leveraging AI for Impact
Google has announced 15 startups selected for the 9th edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program. These innovators, drawn from Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa, are using artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle pressing challenges in fintech, agritech, healthtech, logistics, and professional services.
In an environment where African startups face hurdles like limited funding and mentorship, programs like this are essential. Google aims to bridge the gap by offering access to its cutting-edge AI tools, expert guidance, and a global network. This cohort was chosen from nearly 1,500 applications received since April 2025.
“African startups are uniquely positioned to apply AI solutions to real challenges,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Google’s Head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa. “This program backs founders with deep local insight and helps build an inclusive AI ecosystem for the continent.”
