The National Council of NGOs has called upon the Government to review the current curfew time from 8.00 p.m to at least 9.00 p.m.

The Council of NGOs says that the curfew time in the zoned regions of Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, and Machakos are pressing and challenging to many Kenyans to live working areas to home and appealed to the government to review the time.

In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, National Chairman Stephen K. Cheboi said “The current times are pressing. Up to 8.00 pm in the evening, every day is still a productive time that Kenyans in zoned areas are struggling with their daily bread earnings,”

Cheboi has also urged Kenyans to be responsible citizens and be law-abiding citizens at all times while urging Kenyans to adhere to Covid-19 preventive measures as announced by the Health Ministry.

“Citizens clashing with law enforcement at all times don’t augur well for the nation and thus there needs to be a harmonious relationship between the citizens and the law enforces,” he said.

“We urge all Kenyans to cooperate with Government and the entire security agencies to avoid unnecessary clashing in the process of containing the COVID19 pandemic in the country,” he added.

The Council of NGOs also condemned the recent incidences where police officers clashed with citizens in Thika Road for not adhering to Covid-19 regulations.

They noted that there was a need for sensitization of the people on the dangers of Coronavirus and regulations governing the same in the nation.

This comes after a majority of Kenyans were stranded over the weekend after police officers mounted curfew enforcement roadblocks in different parts of the city such as Thika Road.
