Held just ahead of International Women’s Day, this was the country’s largest teen girls’ empowerment event.

With the support of local schools, the festival provided a platform for girls to embrace positive behavioral change, encourage peer-driven action, and make informed life choices.

The event featured performances by fan-favorite artists Brandy Maina, Lil Maina, and Amina Rabar, along with TikTok influencers Klaus and Nasieku.

Attendees participated in a variety of activities, from entertainment to sports, including self-defense workshops—all designed to help girls embrace their best selves.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Svetlana Polikarpova, Director of SKY Girls Kenya Initiative, stated, “SKY FEST 2025 exceeded all expectations. Girls arrived eager to connect, learn, and grow in a safe and positive environment. The incredible support from parents, schools, and communities highlights the immense value this initiative brings. The energy at Kasarani was electric—when girls come together, they shine even brighter.”

This year’s attendance marked an increase from 2023, which saw 6,200 participants. Additionally, for the first time, SKY FEST will expand to Kisumu on April 12th.

Beyond a One-Day Festival: SKY Girls’ Year-Round Impact

SKY Girls Kenya extends its support far beyond this single event.

In collaboration with organizations such as the Ministry of Education, UNICEF, LVCT, and the DREAMS program, SKY provides continuous empowerment opportunities.

The initiative also works with the Africa Cancer Foundation, UNICEF, and First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o to promote HPV vaccination.

The impact is evident:

  • 62% of SKY Girls confidently resist peer pressure, demonstrating the power of peer-to-peer learning.
  • 54% decrease in adolescent cigarette use, reinforcing the program’s role in preventing tobacco uptake.
  • 67% increase in girls’ ability to stand up for themselves, highlighting SKY’s role in boosting self-confidence.

At the heart of SKY Girls’ success is a commitment to co-creating content with teens, equipping them with knowledge to make informed decisions about their health, bodies, and futures.

Through magazines, digital shows, and interactive series, the initiative continues to reach and uplift communities across Kenya.
