Flexible monthly payments, digital enrolment and community outreach aim to make health insurance more accessible for households and SMEs.

Jubilee Health Insurance has expanded its instalment-based premium payment model in Nairobi to make health insurance more affordable and accessible for uninsured and underinsured Kenyans.

The initiative follows customer feedback showing that many people value health insurance but struggle to pay annual lump-sum premiums.

Through its Linda Afya Leo – Lipa Pole Pole programme, Jubilee Health allows customers to activate health cover after making the first payment. Customers can then spread the remaining premium over up to 10 monthly instalments.

The programme targets individuals, families, first-time insurance buyers, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with between three and 50 employees.

Affordable Health Cover for More Kenyans

Health plans start at KSh3,256 per month. The entry-level plan offers KSh200,000 in inpatient cover and KSh40,000 in outpatient cover. Higher-tier plans provide inpatient cover of up to KSh10 million.

Jubilee Health Insurance Chief Executive Officer Njeri Jomo said the company expanded the programme to remove affordability barriers that continue to limit private health insurance uptake.

“Many Kenyans remain uninsured not because they do not value health insurance, but because cover is often seen as expensive and complex,” said Jomo.

“This is about much more than changing how customers pay. It’s about changing how customers access health insurance. Whether you’re buying your first health plan, protecting your family, caring for ageing parents or covering your employees, there should be a Jubilee Health solution that’s right for you. Getting covered should be simple, convenient and affordable.”

Community Outreach to Drive Enrolment

Jubilee Health will roll out the campaign in Nairobi through the Afya Mtaani initiative. Health advisors will engage residents directly in communities before the company expands the programme to other regions.

Insurance Regulatory Authority Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Godfrey Kiptum welcomed payment solutions that reflect consumers’ cash-flow realities.

“Improving insurance penetration requires solutions that respond to the realities of consumer cash flow, especially among informal sector workers and underserved households,” said Kiptum.

“Approaches that support affordability, accessibility and consumer understanding are important in broadening inclusion and strengthening confidence in insurance.”

Supporting Long-Term Growth

The initiative forms part of Jubilee Health Insurance’s broader growth strategy. The company aims to provide health cover to one million lives by the end of 2027.

Customers can learn more about the Linda Afya Leo – Lipa Pole Pole programme through Jubilee Health Insurance’s official platforms. They can also request a callback by sending “Afya” to 40643 or access affordable health insurance options by dialling *706*2#.
