Transforming Lives Through Good Deeds; The Story Of A Unique Group Based In Kiambu.
They say that every time you do a good deed, you shine the light a little farther into the dark.
An adage that seems to resonate with United Brotherhood Kabuku Group, a local group based in Kiambu County that was formed to majorly cater for the needs of the boy child.
According to Patrick Ngaruiya, the group’s secretary, the United Brotherhood Kabuku group was formed to transform the fortunes of the downtrodden. Ngaruiya avered that no exercise is better for the heart than reaching down and lifting other people up.
He says the group is involved in a host of activities including visiting the elderly, children’s homes as well as involvement in community clean-ups as it seeks to reach out to those who need their services the most.
However, the group has for a long time yearned to establish a car wash business, a dream that has failed to materialize due to a lack of funds.
Peter Muturi, the groups’ chairman explains that “…if we could buy a tank or a pressure pump machine with our little savings, our group would collapse as we would utilize all our savings.”
But their quest to establish a car wash business would finally actualize thanks to Safaricom Foundation through the Ndoto Zetu Initiative. This after the group was provided with a water tank and a Portable car wash machine.
The gesture by Safaricom Foundation comes as welcome relief for the group who says their mission to positively impact lives, realize their dream of generating their revenue, wealth creation and the empowerment of the boy child is finally a reality.
The latest initiative is just but one of the similar enterprises that have been supported by the foundation through the Ndoto Zetu Initiative in a development that has positively impacted dozens of lives of budding entrepreneurs and created employment opportunities for hundreds of Kenyans who would otherwise have continued languishing in abject poverty.
