Safaricom Becomes Title Sponsor of Connected Africa Summit 2026
Tech firm commits KES 22 million to support regional digital transformation dialogue
Safaricom has committed KES 22 million as the title sponsor of the Connected Africa Summit 2026, set to take place next week.
The summit will bring together key decision-makers from across Africa to shape the continent’s digital transformation agenda. Governments across the region are accelerating efforts to modernise public services and expand digital access.
Driving Scalable Digital Solutions
Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said Africa’s digital journey has reached a critical stage.
“Africa’s digital journey is no longer about what is possible. It is about what can work at scale,” he said. “Governments need partners who can deliver secure, practical, and integrated solutions that improve everyday services.”
He added that solutions must remain connected, secure, and designed around how citizens interact with public services.

Supporting Regional Collaboration
Safaricom has supported the summit since its launch in 2009. Over the years, the platform has brought together governments, industry players, and development partners to drive the region’s digital agenda.
“We have seen how collaboration has shaped key milestones, from infrastructure expansion to the growth of the digital superhighway,” Ndegwa said. “These are not just policy wins. They form the foundation of a functional digital economy.”
The summit comes at a time when African governments are pushing bold digitisation strategies. Many aim to improve service delivery, expand access, and modernise critical systems.
Safaricom’s sponsorship underscores its continued role in supporting digital transformation across the continent.
