New Partnership Opens Access to Over 22,000 KCB Agents

Airtel Money and KCB Bank have partnered to make financial services more accessible to millions of Kenyans. Through the collaboration, Airtel Money customers can now deposit and withdraw cash at more than 22,000 KCB agents across the country.

The partnership supports ongoing efforts to strengthen financial inclusion and improve interoperability in Kenya’s financial sector. It also gives customers more convenient access to cash services while expanding the country’s digital financial ecosystem.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director Anne Kinuthia-Otieno said the partnership will bring services closer to customers.

“By opening access to KCB’s extensive agent network, we are bringing Airtel Money services closer to more Kenyans. Customers can now deposit and withdraw money more easily wherever they are. As Airtel Money continues to grow, partnerships such as this help us expand access to financial services while supporting the country’s financial inclusion agenda,” she said.

Collaboration Drives Growth in Digital Finance

KCB Bank Kenya Managing Director Annastacia Kimtai said collaboration remains essential in growing Kenya’s mobile money ecosystem.

“We recognize that interconnected opportunities remain central to the mobile money value proposition. Mobile money ecosystems must become more dynamic and productive to achieve greater scale. By opening our agency network, we are helping strengthen the ecosystem and supporting the industry’s continued growth,” she said.

The partnership allows Airtel Money customers to access services through KCB’s nationwide agent network. Customers only need a valid national identification document and a registered Airtel Money account. Airtel Money will not charge customers for deposits, while standard withdrawal charges will apply.

KCB Expands Non-Branch Banking Services

The agreement comes as KCB continues to strengthen its agency and digital banking capabilities. The bank recently expanded its offerings through the acquisition of Riverbank Solutions. The acquisition added social payment and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions to KCB’s growing portfolio.

KCB’s digital strategy continues to deliver results. The bank reports that 99 percent of all transactions now take place through non-branch channels. This shift highlights the growing role of digital and agency banking in serving customers efficiently.

The Airtel Money partnership strengthens that strategy further. It expands access to financial services, improves customer convenience, and supports the growth of Kenya’s increasingly connected financial sector.
