Sauti Sol, Wakadinali, Buruklyn Boyz are Spotify Kenya’s most-streamed artists
Spotify on Thursday announced the release of Spotify Wrapped – an annual recounting of what songs, artists, albums and playlists people listened to throughout the year.
As part of Wrapped 2022, Spotify users get a detailed, personalized snapshot of their most beloved artists, creators and songs. As part of this year’s fun, new features such as ‘Audio Day’ show Spotify users how their musical choices evolve throughout the day while the ‘Your Listening Personality’ feature tells users about the music they listen to and what it says about their music taste.
One of 16 different Spotify-created Listening Personality types is assigned to each user based on their 2022 listening trends.
Speaking about Kenya’s evolving music tastes, Spotify’s artist and label partnerships manager for East Africa, Monica Kemoli-Savanne said, “We are so encouraged by the trends we are seeing on Spotify in Kenya this year, especially when it comes to the increase in local music consumption. This upward trend means that Kenyan creatives can find inspiration to create more content that resonates with local music lovers. Beyond that, this year’s Wrapped paints a very interesting picture of what music moves Kenyans.”
This year’s wrapped will also feature messages from artists to their listeners, and users will be able to share their Wrapped cards via their preferred social media apps. Fans will also be able to unlock personalized Snapchat lens that reflects their listening personality.
