From Remittances to Wealth: How NCBA Is Helping Kenyans Abroad Invest Back Home

The Bank’s UK diaspora tour brought property financing, investment and wealth management solutions closer to Kenyans living and working abroad.

NCBA Bank is deepening its engagement with Kenyans in the United Kingdom as more people abroad look beyond sending money home.

The Bank’s multi-city UK diaspora tour focused on banking, property financing, investment and wealth management solutions. It also gave NCBA an opportunity to better understand the changing financial ambitions of Kenyans living abroad.

The UK engagement forms part of NCBA’s wider 2026 Diaspora Market Activation Programme. The programme has also taken the Bank to key communities in Australia and the United States.

Previous engagements in Australia and the US reached more than 3,000 Kenyans. The discussions focused largely on property financing and wealth management.

From Remittances to Wealth Creation

For many Kenyans abroad, the financial goal is changing.

Beyond supporting families through remittances, they are buying property, building businesses and investing for the future.

Dennis Njau, Group Director, Retail Banking at NCBA, said the shift is shaping the Bank’s approach to diaspora banking.

“The diaspora opportunity is evolving. Kenyans abroad are not only supporting families through remittances; they are building businesses, buying property, investing and planning for their financial futures,” he said.

He added that the UK engagement reinforced the need to understand customers’ ambitions and provide the right financing, investment expertise and digital access.

Property and Investment Take Centre Stage

Property ownership emerged as a key area of interest during the UK engagements.

NCBA showcased financing options for customers looking to buy land, purchase or build homes and undertake construction while living overseas.

Through solutions such as EasyBuild, customers can follow a structured construction process with professional support. This also gives them greater visibility over projects from abroad.

Meanwhile, the Bank highlighted investment and wealth management solutions. These options can help customers diversify their portfolios and pursue longer-term financial goals in Kenya.

Banking From Anywhere

Digital banking also featured prominently during the tour.

NCBA demonstrated how diaspora customers can manage their finances remotely and transact across borders without being physically present in Kenya.

Its diaspora proposition includes accounts, international money transfers, foreign exchange, asset finance, secured lending, insurance and wealth management.

The Bank’s diaspora account also allows customers to access their finances through online and mobile banking from anywhere in the world.

As a result, NCBA is positioning diaspora banking as more than a channel for sending money home.

The focus is increasingly on helping Kenyans abroad build assets, invest and create lasting financial value in Kenya.

The approach aligns with NCBA’s “Banking on Belief, Empowering Ambition” brand promise and its broader focus on helping customers achieve their ambitions wherever they are in the world.
