Man Arrested in Kakamega Over Alleged Murder of Wife
Police have arrested a man in Kakamega County over the alleged murder of his wife. Investigators say he later hid her dismembered remains in a quarry in Nakuru County.
The suspect, Evans Abuti, allegedly killed his wife, Jackline Awuor, in Bahati Maili before fleeing more than 240 kilometres.
According to police, Abuti beheaded and dismembered the body, then concealed the remains in a quarry.
Police Trace Suspect and Launch Recovery Operation
Detectives tracked Abuti to Nvakholo in Kakamega, where they arrested him after a manhunt. They have now launched a search for the missing body parts and the suspected murder weapon.
“We traced the suspect to Nvakholo, Kakamega. We have begun an operation to recover the head and the weapon used,” said Charity Karimi.
Authorities expect to arraign the suspect on Wednesday as investigations continue.

More Murder Cases Raise Concern
The arrest comes as police investigate several murder cases across Kenya.
In Nyeri County, officers are holding Vincent Bett over the killing of Sheila Chebet, a student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Investigators say CCTV footage shows Chebet with Bett shortly before her death. Witnesses also described the scene where officers found her body on a farm in Karatina.
“We believe they spent time together, so we are holding him as the key suspect. We are still investigating what happened,” said Deborah Mwarania.
Nairobi Gang Case Under Investigation
In Nairobi, police have charged four suspects linked to an Eastleigh gang with murder. Prosecutors say the group attacked and fatally stabbed a peer in broad daylight.
Authorities believe the suspects belong to a gang that has been terrorising residents in the area.
Police Step Up Investigations
Police say they will continue pursuing all leads in the cases. They aim to hold those responsible accountable and restore public safety.
The recent incidents have raised concern, prompting calls for stronger enforcement and vigilance across communities.
