A Brief Inspiring Story Of  Kindiki

Kenyan third Deputy President, H.E Kithure Kindiki says only a country of opportunity can cause the little-known village of Irunduni, tucked on the outskirts of the unassuming hamlet of Mukothima in semi-arid Tharaka to produce the Country’s Deputy President.

Growing up in a competitive environment, Kindiki learned to manage scarce resources in a large family of nine siblings raised by peasant parents and was introduced to the values of respect for others and authority, the love for God and Country, and considering other people’s needs before his.

These values would later be firmed through his education journey in the schools and universities he would attend later in life.

Being possible for him to come this far, confirms that in Kenya, there is no reason anymore why a child born in Moyale, Loitoktok, Nyahururu, Lodwar, Nyansiongo, Malindi, Ugenya, Kathonzweni, Elwak, Kimilili, Lunga Lunga, Maralal or anywhere else within this great country cannot aspire to rise to any office.

On Friday, 1st November 2024 was and shall remain the most momentous and significant day yet in his life.

After serving the country for a quarter of a century as a law lecturer, legal practitioner, Senator, Majority Leader of the Senate, Deputy Speaker of the Senate, and most recently as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, he now takes over office as the third Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

It remains astounding how a son of Kenya, born some 52 years ago in Tharaka, a remote part of the then Meru District and in a humble homestead of a rural clergyman and his housewife spouse could eventually get the opportunity to serve this Country in the esteemed and high office of Deputy President of the Republic.
