Raila says Gachagua is unsuitable to hold public office

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party Presidential candidate Raila Odinga now says United Democratic Alliance running mate Rigathi Gachagua is unsuitable to hold public office in light of his implication in court over proceeds of corruption.

According to Raila, Gachagua, the deputy to his rival William Ruto, has failed the integrity test and Kenyans ought to reject him and his party on the day of elections next month.

Speaking in a series of rallies in Machakos County, the former Prime Minister argued that the High Court order directing Gachagua to surrender proceeds of crime to the state had demonstrated that he is tainted and cannot be trusted with leadership.

Raila who earlier met church elders at Machakos golf club, also sought to clear the air over remarks attributed to him as far as religion is concerned. Raila maintains that his sentiments on the church have been blown out of proportion even as he maintained that he is a devoted Christian who respects the church.

Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua called on Ukambani residents to trust them with leadership noting that they have demonstrated over the years that they have the interests of  Kenyans at heart.

Leaders from the area led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governors Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana and  Senator Mutula Kilonzo promised to marshal the region’s votes into Raila’s basket.
