Africa CDC To Discuss Development, Manufacture Of Own Vaccines
Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) will hold a two-day high-level Virtual Conference to discuss the Development and Manufacture of its own Vaccines.
Africa CDC said the conference to be held Monday and Tuesday, is aimed at expanding Africa’s Vaccine Manufacturing to achieve a new public health order.
It said a critical lesson that Africa had learnt from the Covid 19 pandemic is the need to invest in and build its own capacity and capabilities in manufacturing vaccines.
It said the continent’s low manufacturing capability exposes Africans to supply chain risks such as the one witnessed with the current Covid 19 challenges.
Africa CDC strengthens the capacity and capability of Africa’s public health institutions as well as partnerships to detect and respond quickly and effectively to disease threats and outbreaks, based on data-driven interventions and programmes.
