KCB RFC Extend Winning Streak in Kenya Cup Action

KCB RFC needed three tries to overcome Nakuru RFC 20-12 in match day seven of Kenya Cup action played at the Nakuru Athletics Club this evening.

The home side took an early advantage, scoring ten minutes into the game before Andy Cole crossed the white line for the Curtis-Olago led outfit to cut the deficit. Darwin Mukidza added three points for the bankers just before the halftime whistle through a penalty to give KCB a narrow 8-7 lead at the break.

“The plan we had for this match did not go as we had envisioned. We did not fire from all cylinders, and we made a lot of mistakes especially missing two penalty kicks in the first half and knock ones that could have been avoided. However, we take the win and prepare for the next assignment,” noted KCB RFC Assistant Coach Denis Mwanja.

Despite a difficult first half for Brian Wahinya, the skillful player made up for his adversities scoring a huge try for KCB in the second half to extend their lead to 13-7 and light up the away stand that was silent for the better part of the first half.

Winger Festus Shiasi, who replaced Peter Kilonzo in the first half crossed the white line for the bankers once again before Darwin Mukidza’s successful conversion to bring the scores to 20-7. Nakuru scored their second try of the game in the dying minutes, but it was not enough to grab a win for the Wanyore side that enjoyed support from their raucous fans.

KCB will resume action on February 3, 2024, against Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad at the den.
