Finnet Trust Services Earns RBA Corporate Trustee Registration

The registration strengthens Finnet Trust Services’ position in Kenya’s retirement benefits sector and reinforces its commitment to governance and fiduciary responsibility.

Finnet Trust Services Limited (FTS) has secured registration as a Corporate Trustee from the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), Kenya’s regulator of the retirement benefits industry.

The Authority granted the registration on August 20, 2026, with effect from August 21, 2026. It issued FTS Certificate of Registration No. RBA/1/16/010, under Registration No. CT010.

Registration strengthens FTS’s role in pensions

The new status allows Finnet Trust Services to serve umbrella schemes, individual pension plans, income drawdown funds and occupational schemes as an RBA-registered corporate trustee.

The milestone also gives customers, retirement schemes and partners additional assurance that FTS operates within Kenya’s regulatory framework.

The company says the registration recognises the governance, capital, systems and fiduciary structures it has developed since its establishment.

“This registration is an important endorsement of the standards we have worked to establish since inception. Our commitment to strong governance, accountability and responsible fiduciary stewardship has always been at the heart of our business,” said Godwin Kibet Simba, Chief Executive Officer of Finnet Trust Services Limited.

“The RBA registration formally validates that foundation. It is validation, not transformation our standards did not change on 20 August; they are now endorsed by Kenya’s pensions regulator, which strengthens the confidence our customers and partners can place in us.”

Focus remains on governance and accountability

FTS says the registration does not change its operating standards. Instead, it provides formal regulatory recognition of the governance and fiduciary framework that the company has built since inception.

The company will continue to focus on professional, transparent and responsible trustee services while meeting the obligations that come with its RBA registration.

These obligations include submitting annual audited financial statements, maintaining an updated register of directors and senior management, reporting changes in shareholding and leadership within the required timelines, and paying prescribed regulatory fees.

The company’s Company Secretary and Head of Legal & Compliance oversee these requirements, with the Group Compliance Calendar supporting ongoing monitoring.

Part of a wider pension and wealth ecosystem

Finnet Trust Services operates under the Finnet Nexus Group, an East African pension, governance and wealth-management group.

The group’s subsidiaries include Finnet Institute, Finnet Insurance Agency, Finnet Capital, Finnet Technologies, the Executive School of Governance & Management (ESGM) and Finnet Foundation.

FTS says it maintains a strict Trust-Capital Wall to protect trustee independence from capital and investment activities elsewhere within the group.

Additionally, the company says the interests of members and beneficiaries remain central to its trustee decisions.

The RBA registration marks another step in Finnet Trust Services’ efforts to strengthen trust, governance and accountability within Kenya’s retirement benefits industry.
