MERU, Kenya, August 28, 2026 — Safaricom is expanding support for farmers through Bundle Ya Wakulima, an integrated solution that brings together connectivity, insurance, agricultural advice and production support.
The solution is designed to help farmers stay connected, protect their livelihoods and access services that can support them throughout the farming cycle. It is available to farmers across Kenya through Safaricom’s PATA MORE customer proposition.
Farmers can access Bundle Ya Wakulima by dialing *544*16#.
Bringing essential services closer to farmers
Speaking during a farmer engagement and empowerment forum in Meru, Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali said supporting farmers is important to strengthening food security.
“Meru is one of Kenya’s agricultural powerhouses, and supporting farmers is critical to strengthening food security. Through PATA MORE, Bundle Ya Wakulima brings together affordable connectivity, protection, and growth support, giving farmers the tools and services they need to increase productivity and build resilient livelihoods,” she said.
The solution combines voice, data, SMS and WhatsApp access with insurance options, agricultural advisory services and discounted production support.
Farmers can also access support for farm inputs and mechanisation, alongside credit pathways for eligible customers.
The package includes Tuunza Mapato insurance, with inpatient and funeral cover available depending on the package selected. It also provides access to Seeds of Gold and the WhatsApp Farming Companion, giving farmers access to additional agricultural information and support.
Flexible packages for different farming seasons
Bundle Ya Wakulima is available through daily, weekly, monthly, 90-day and 180-day packages. This allows farmers to select an option that suits their connectivity and farming needs.
The daily package costs Ksh40 and provides 250MB, 20 minutes and free WhatsApp access.
The weekly package costs Ksh300 and includes 1.5GB, 100 minutes, free WhatsApp and access to additional farmer benefits. The monthly package costs Ksh1,200, providing 7.5GB and 500 minutes.
For farmers looking for longer-term options, the 90-day package costs Ksh3,500, while the 180-day package costs Ksh6,500. These packages provide larger allocations of data and voice minutes, alongside the additional services included in Bundle Ya Wakulima.
The solution was developed using farmer data and insights, recognising the importance of voice-based communication in how farmers share information and make decisions.
Taking the farmer conversation beyond Meru
The Meru engagement brought together more than 500 farmers and marked the fifth regional farmer forum under the initiative.
Safaricom has previously held similar engagements in Kirinyaga, Bomet, Nakuru and Bungoma, extending the conversation on digital tools and services to farmers in different parts of the country.
Through Bundle Ya Wakulima, Safaricom is positioning connectivity as part of a wider support system for farmers. The offering brings together communication, protection and access to agricultural services in one solution.
