More than 100 golfers will take to the course this Saturday as the Nanyuki Sports Club hosts its April Monthly Mug tournament.

The event, set for March 28, has drawn a strong field from the club’s membership. At the same time, it has attracted invited guests, setting the stage for a competitive and social weekend on the greens.

Safaricom Emerald Brings Premium Experience to the Course

The tournament is sponsored by Safaricom through its Emerald platform. Notably, the event coincides with the platform’s first anniversary since its launch in March 2025.

As part of the celebration, Safaricom has invited select Emerald customers from Nanyuki and beyond. As a result, participants will enjoy a rare chance to play alongside club members.

This approach blends sport with customer engagement. It also reflects Safaricom’s strategy of rewarding loyalty through exclusive experiences.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the event goes beyond competition.

“Events like the Monthly Mug bring players together to compete and connect. At the same time, they allow us to appreciate our customers and create memorable experiences,” he said.

Blending Sport, Lifestyle and Customer Engagement

Since its launch, Safaricom Emerald has positioned itself as a premium lifestyle offering.

It provides customers with enhanced services, including seamless payments, eSIM technology, and improved roaming. In addition, it offers access to curated experiences such as events and networking opportunities.

Therefore, the Nanyuki tournament highlights how the platform continues to evolve beyond telecom services.

By combining golf, networking, and lifestyle engagement, Safaricom is strengthening its connection with high-value customers.

Growing the Game and Community

Meanwhile, events such as the Monthly Mug continue to play a key role in growing golf at the club level.

They provide a platform for competition while also fostering community among players.

This weekend’s tournament is expected to deliver both. Players will compete for the coveted title, while also enjoying a shared passion for the game.

At the same time, Safaricom’s involvement adds a premium touch, reinforcing the link between sport, brand engagement, and customer experience.
