NCBA Launches Next-Generation Digital Banking Platforms Across East Africa
Kampala, Uganda – NCBA Bank has unveiled NCBA NOW, its next-generation retail banking platform, and NCBA ConnectPlus, a new corporate internet banking solution. The launch marks a major milestone in the Group’s digital banking strategy across East Africa.
The platforms launched simultaneously in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. They reflect NCBA’s continued investment in technology that makes banking faster, simpler and more accessible for individuals and businesses.
A New Era of Digital Banking
Speaking during the launch at Four Points by Sheraton Kampala, NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo said the new platforms respond directly to changing customer expectations.
“At NCBA, we believe banking should never be a barrier to ambition; it should enable it. NCBA NOW and NCBA ConnectPlus were developed by listening to our customers and reimagining the digital banking experience around how they live, work and do business. This is another important milestone in our journey to becoming Uganda’s leading digital-first bank,” he said.
Meanwhile, Board Chairperson Grace Jethro Kavuma said the investment demonstrates NCBA’s long-term commitment to innovation, security and customer trust.
“The launch of NCBA NOW and NCBA ConnectPlus reflects our commitment to investing in technology that strengthens customer experience while maintaining the highest standards of governance, security and trust. We believe digital banking should expand access to financial services, empower businesses and individuals, and contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s economic growth,” she said.
Smarter Banking for Individuals
NCBA NOW gives retail customers a modern mobile banking experience. Users can manage accounts, transfer funds and make payments through one platform.
The app also allows customers to buy airtime, monitor transactions, manage payment cards and access a growing range of digital financial services.
As a result, customers can bank anytime and from anywhere using a secure and user-friendly platform.

Helping Businesses Operate More Efficiently
NCBA ConnectPlus targets corporates, SMEs and institutions. The platform helps businesses manage multiple accounts while simplifying day-to-day financial operations.
Customers can process local and international payments, run payroll, pay suppliers and monitor liquidity in real time.
In addition, the platform offers financial reporting tools, role-based user access and configurable approval workflows. These features strengthen governance while improving operational efficiency.
The Bank of Uganda welcomed the launch and highlighted the role digital banking plays in expanding financial inclusion.
Dr Tumubweinee Twinemanzi, Executive Director for National Payment Systems, said secure digital platforms help improve payment efficiency and strengthen the country’s financial sector.
“Platforms such as NCBA NOW and NCBA ConnectPlus enhance financial inclusion, improve payment efficiency and contribute to a more resilient and competitive financial sector. Innovation and regulation must continue to work together to build trust and expand access to digital financial services,” he said.
Building on a Strong Digital Foundation
The launch builds on NCBA Group’s leadership in digital financial services across Africa.
Today, the Group serves more than 70 million customers through its banking subsidiaries and fintech ecosystem. Its digital platforms include LOOP, MoKash, M-Shwari and Fuliza, developed alongside partners such as Safaricom, MTN and Vodacom.
Across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire, MoKash, MoMoKash and M-PAWA have reached more than 35 million customers. Together, they have disbursed over USD 2 billion in loans since launch.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s M-Shwari has served over 30 million customers and disbursed more than USD 6 billion. Fuliza processes over 4 million transactions every day and has advanced more than USD 25 billion in overdraft facilities.
