Mpuru Aburi Barred By Court From Uttering Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s Name

High Court in Meru has issued a temporary order barring EALA MP Mpuru Aburi from publishing any defamatory content against Governor Kiraitu Murungi or even uttering the name Kiraitu Murungi on any public platform.

It is alleged that since August 2020, the respondents have maliciously published defamatory words of and concerning the plaintiff who is the advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the current Governor of Meru county.

The publication has been done on radio, television and social media platforms such as Facebook as a consequence in which the plaintiff’s reputation has been brought in a public scandal, odium and contempt among right-thinking members of the society.

Request by Aburi’s legal team to be furnished with documents from the Water Department, CPSB and Finance have been thrown out for lack of merit. Defamation case against Aburi to proceed after the court threw out a preliminary objection by Aburi’s Legal Team to dismiss the case.
