Microsoft Appoints Angela Nganga as East Africa Country Lead
The appointment strengthens Microsoft’s focus on AI, digital transformation, skills development and local innovation across the region.
Microsoft has appointed Angela Nganga as the Country Lead for East Africa.
Nganga brings extensive experience in government engagement, strategic business development, stakeholder management and digital transformation.
She has also been part of the Microsoft Middle East and Africa Emerging Markets leadership team.
Advancing AI and Digital Transformation
In her new role, Nganga will support Microsoft’s work across Kenya and the wider East African region.
Her priorities will include inclusive digital and AI transformation, local innovation, skills development and strategic partnerships.
“I am delighted to lead Microsoft’s work in East Africa as the region strengthens its position as an innovation and AI hub,” Nganga said.
“I look forward to partnering with governments, enterprise and the local startup ecosystem to build AI skills and workforce readiness, and to help partners develop and scale locally relevant solutions to real-world challenges.”
Nganga said East African companies must play a greater role in developing AI solutions.
“Enabling East African companies to become producers as well as consumers of AI innovation is essential to its success in the global digital economy,” she said.
Nganga Brings More Than 20 Years of Experience
Based in Nairobi, Nganga joined Microsoft in 2012.
Before her appointment, she served as Regional Director of Customer Success for East and West Africa.
She previously held the roles of Director of Corporate Affairs for the Middle East and Africa and Education Industry Director for Africa.
Across these roles, she led customer success, digital transformation and strategic engagements across the continent.
Nganga has more than 20 years of experience across technology, telecommunications, healthcare, public affairs and policy.
Before joining Microsoft, she held senior corporate affairs and public policy positions at Telkom Kenya and AAR Health Services Ltd.
East Africa’s Growing Digital Opportunity
East Africa’s youthful population and growing technology ecosystem continue to create opportunities for digital innovation.
The region has also developed strong capabilities in mobile technology, fintech and digital services.
These foundations position East Africa to develop AI-driven solutions for markets across Africa and beyond.
Microsoft said Nganga’s appointment reflects its continued commitment to the region’s digital transformation and its participation in the global digital economy.
Her role will also focus on strengthening partnerships with governments, enterprises and startups as demand for AI skills and locally relevant technology solutions grows.
