In parallel, Huawei is advancing digital transformation in education. The company offers a Smart Classroom Solution that integrates hands-on industry training with smart display technology (IdeaHub), AI-powered teaching tools, and Huawei Cloud infrastructure. This approach supports student success in real-world industry environments.
Now in its 10th year, the Huawei ICT Competition has become a global benchmark. The 2024–2025 edition attracted over 210,000 students from more than 80 countries. Since 2015, the program has involved 960,000 students from over 2,000 institutions worldwide and is recognized as a UNESCO Global Skills Academy flagship initiative.
Huawei also awarded its Most Valuable Instructor (MVI) honors to 18 top educators contributing to ICT talent development. These instructors serve as role models in building sustainable digital skills ecosystems.
Strengthening ICT Academies Across Southern Africa
Since launching in Kenya in 2016, the Huawei ICT Academy program has expanded to over 50 institutions locally and 478 across Southern Africa. Partner institutions train students in key areas such as cloud computing, 5G, AI, and cybersecurity.
To date, over 12,000 Kenyan students and 320 lecturers have benefited, with more than 4,000 students trained annually. Regionally, the program has impacted over 100,000 students and 1,500 educators — preparing Africa’s next generation of digital professionals.
