Kenya Society for Deaf Children Call On Government For Additional Funds

Kenya Society for Deaf Children (KSDC) has issued bursary disbursement for children coming from humble backgrounds. This momentum was enhanced to improve quality education to needy impaired hearing children.

Led by its Director Rhoda Kabiti, the society urged government to increase capitation in deaf Schools to allow seamless transitions especially in junior secondary schools.
The exceptional organization has one hundred and forty-one schools country wide spread across forty six counties with Narok county being the only county without a school for the deaf.

The society works with private donors in order to improve the quality of education, provide better living and protection of their rights in the country.

The society has a fair share of challenges in education sector. Lack of adequate teachers in deaf schools is one of the dispute that contribute to poor performance increasing the number of school drop outs.

Program coordinator, The Kenya Society for Deaf Children John Gachanja has called on the government to tightly support the deaf children high education by increasing technical schools.

Kenya has few technical institutes for the deaf which a challenge that needs to be addressed.

Beth Kendi an employee at Kenya Society for Deaf Children in education health and social wellbeing has asked the government to strongly put measures on sexual offenders who impregnate young school girls.

Schools for deaf in the country have more early pregnancies and school drop outs than regular schools.
