Drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa receive practical rewards as Bolt highlights customer service, road safety and electric mobility.

Bolt Kenya has recognized its top-performing drivers in Nairobi and Mombasa during Customer Service Week, rewarding them for their commitment to serving passengers.

The drivers, who have each spent at least six months on the platform, operate cars and boda bodas. Their rewards include fuel and vehicle service vouchers, tyres and other incentives.

The awards ceremony took place at Bolt’s Nairobi Driver Engagement Centre. Drivers visiting the centre also received breakfast, T-shirts and reflector vests.

Recognising the People Behind Every Ride

Arthur Gacharia, Bolt’s Senior Operations Manager, said drivers play a key role in shaping the customer experience.

“Drivers are often the first and last point of contact in a ride-hailing journey, and their work directly shapes the experience a customer has,” he said.

Samson Ouma, one of the recognised drivers, said maintaining good ratings requires discipline and consistency. He thanked Bolt for recognising drivers’ efforts and passengers for their continued trust.

Supporting Driver Safety and Electric Mobility

Beyond the awards, Bolt has continued initiatives aimed at supporting drivers and improving road safety.

Through a partnership with the Kenya Red Cross, the company trained 75 boda boda riders in first aid and emergency response. The initiative is being evaluated to identify opportunities for expansion.

Bolt has also partnered with M-KOPA to help drivers transition to electric motorcycles. The partnership has enabled thousands of drivers to access electric bikes with lower upfront financing requirements and reduced running and maintenance costs compared with petrol-powered alternatives.

Bolt says seven in ten electric vehicles operating on its Kenyan platform are electric.

The company also continues to engage driver representatives, policymakers and regulators on issues affecting the ride-hailing sector.

For drivers, the recognition highlights the effort behind every journey and the importance of reliable service. It also comes as operators navigate road safety concerns, rising operating costs and changing customer expectations.
