“We will deal firmly with Corruption in the Judiciary”
Chief Justice Martha Koome says her quest for Judicial hygiene will be pursued within a policy of zero tolerance to corruption in the Judiciary.
Speaking when she admitted 255 lawyers to the Roll of Advocates at the Supreme Court Tuesday morning, Koome said this will enhance public confidence and trust in the Judiciary.
“We will deal firmly and swiftly but also fairly with any allegations or cases that implicate anyone within the Judiciary in corrupt activities,” She said.
A total of 510 lawyers have been admitted to the Bar this week after 255 lawyers were admitted on Monday.
“I urged the advocates to go the extra mile to ensure the vulnerable in our society such as victims of gender-based violence, children, persons living with disabilities, and persons from minority and marginalized communities are enabled to access justice,” She said.
Koome urged the lawyers to be part of the solution to the case backlog and delayed delivery of justice by abandoning unnecessary adjournments that delay the hearing of matters.
