Closure of a section of Uhuru Highway extended by 21 days: KeNHA
In a statement, the Kenya Highway Authority (KeNHA) has extended the closure of a section of the busy Uhuru Highway for a further 21 days due to the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway.
On Thursday’s statement, KeNHA said that the closure, which starts on April 30, will last until May 20.
The section between Bunyala roundabout and Nyayo stadium roundabout will be the most affected by the closure, affecting those using the Mombasa road, Uhuru, and Waiyaki way routes.
Motorists leaving town via the Uhuru Highway will need to take Bunyala Road-Workshop Road-Lusaka before connecting to Mombasa Road at the Nyayo roundabout.
Motorists are being urged to follow traffic management plans and road signs, as well as to seek alternate routes until a safe, reliable road network is found.
KeNHA had previously closed the section for 20 days beginning April 9 to allow for the construction of the expressway.
