SUICIDE! Police Officer Allegedly Commits Suicide Over December Salary Delay
A 50-year-old police officer has been found dead in his house at Koromotangi village, Kakamega County, after allegedly committing suicide over salary dues.
According to reports, the deceased, Abel Timeo, had earlier complained to his family and friends about his December salary being delayed.
He had reportedly told them that he was going to air his grievances directly to the Kakamega Police Station where he was posted.
The deceased’s body was discovered by his cousin Zacheus Kalama who went to his house to accompany him to the aforementioned station to probe the salary delay.
Confirming the incident, Kakamega Central OCPD David Kabena claimed that the deceased had been mentally unstable for a while.
Kabena however stated that they have since launched investigations to determine the exact cause behind his death.
He similarly urged officers with any underlying mental issues to seek expert attention.
Area residents mourned the deceased as an effective law enforcer in the local community.
