Gospel Singer Rufftone To Vie For Nairobi Senator Seat In 2022.
Roy Smith Mwita alias Rufftone, a well-known Kenyan Gospel musician, has revealed for the first time that he is planning to run for Senator of Nairobi in next year’s general elections.
“I am disclosing this for the first time in regards to what the future holds for Rufftone. You are looking at the new incoming Nairobi Senator, Mr. Roy Smith Mwita,” he said during an interview on Churchil Show.
As a newcomer, the ‘Mwikulu’ hitmaker joins other well-known Kenyan musicians such as Frasha, Gabu, and Prezzo in lining up to run for office in the 2022 General Elections.
Before getting into politics, the musician stated that he would be doing Campus tours across the country, citing Covid’s impact on the music industry as an example.
The gospel singer stated that his goal with the campus tours is to mentor young students and that the free entry events are intended to promote peace through the arts.
“Working with Lampstand Events, we are very intentional with the initiative dubbed ‘Pure Praise’ where we do campus tours all over the country to deliver the Good News of Christ.”
His first tour was at Machakos University on November 20. Journalist Wahiga Mwaura, Daddy Owen, Moji Short Baba, Krystal, Florence Andenyi, Pastor T, Asembo, Fidel Atondola, Dj Nevs, Papa Tomaso, and Ottezy were among those featured.
Over 4000 people attended his show; his next show will be at the Huruma grounds in Eldoret on December 5.
