LG Electronics has unveiled a new line of energy-efficient dishwashers in Kenya, expanding its smart home portfolio in East Africa.

The Nairobi launch showcased three models, two freestanding units in Matte Black and Platinum Silver, and one built-in option, designed for modern Kenyan households.

Meeting Growing Urban Demand

This launch comes as Kenya’s smart home market continues to expand. According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), nearly one-third of Kenyans now live in urban areas.

The rise in dual-income families and smaller living spaces has created a stronger demand for compact, time-saving appliances.

Jane Kariuki, LG East Africa’s Regional Marketing Head, said the products were developed after extensive local research.

“These products reflect what Kenyan families truly need,” she said. “We’re introducing a smarter way of living, where technology becomes a partner in the home.”

The new models feature LG’s TrueSteam technology, which uses high-temperature steam to remove stains and reduce water spots.

The Auto Open Dry function automatically opens the door after each wash, improving drying efficiency while lowering energy use.

LG noted that the dishwashers consume up to 566% less water than manual washing, a critical advantage as many urban homes face water shortages.

Inverter technology further optimizes electricity consumption, reducing household utility costs.

“These dishwashers fit both compact and flexible home layouts,” said LG’s Home Solutions Product Marketing Manager for East Africa. “They combine modern design with efficiency and convenience.”

Strong Market Potential

Although Kenya’s dishwasher market is still young, urbanization and rising disposable incomes are driving adoption. Industry experts predict strong growth as more households embrace smart living solutions.

LG has already reported double-digit growth in its home appliance division for three consecutive years. The company expects the new dishwashers to sustain this upward trend.

The models meet European Union energy standards and use recyclable materials, reinforcing LG’s sustainability goals. This commitment aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 objectives on green growth and responsible urban development.

Retail partners expressed confidence in the new products’ market potential. With distribution underway through LG Brand Shops, online stores, and major retailers, LG is also targeting property developers, hotels, and serviced apartments.
