KPC:The Infrastructure Powering Energy Security and Regional Trade
From transporting petroleum across Kenya to supporting regional markets, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) plays a critical role in keeping businesses and economies moving.
Supporting Kenya’s Energy Supply
Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) plays a central role in the country’s petroleum supply chain, transporting fuel to support businesses, industries and households.
During the 2025/26 financial year, KPC transported 10.6 billion litres of petroleum through its 1,342-kilometre pipeline network. The company also operates storage facilities with an active capacity of approximately 1.14 billion litres.
This infrastructure helps move petroleum products across Kenya while supporting the country’s energy security.
Connecting Kenya to Regional Markets
Beyond serving Kenya, KPC supports petroleum transportation across the wider East African region. Its pipeline network provides an important link between fuel supply points and markets that depend on reliable petroleum distribution.
The company’s role in regional transportation highlights the importance of energy infrastructure in supporting trade, business activity and economic growth.
As demand for reliable fuel supplies continues, KPC’s infrastructure remains an important part of the region’s petroleum logistics network.
Financial Performance Supports Growth
KPC recorded strong financial results in the 2025/26 financial year, reflecting growth in revenue and profitability.
The company reported revenue of approximately KSh43 billion, an increase of 9% from the previous financial year. Profit after tax rose by 13% to KSh11.6 billion, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached KSh25 billion.
KPC also reported total assets of KSh149.3 billion and operating cash flow of KSh17.39 billion.
These results highlight the financial scale of the company’s operations and its position in Kenya’s petroleum transportation sector.

Exploring New Opportunities in Energy Logistics
KPC is exploring opportunities beyond conventional petroleum transportation, including bunkering, transshipment and the development of a petroleum trading hub.
These opportunities could allow the company to build on its existing storage, quality assurance and logistics capabilities while serving marine transport and regional trade.
The expansion would build on KPC’s established role in petroleum infrastructure while creating potential new commercial opportunities.
Investing Beyond Infrastructure
Through the KPC Foundation, the company also supports communities across Kenya through education, healthcare, environmental conservation, water and sanitation, and economic empowerment initiatives.
The foundation has invested more than KSh900 million in social programmes over the past decade. Its work includes 398 projects and more than 60,000 direct beneficiaries across all 47 counties.
These initiatives extend KPC’s impact beyond petroleum transportation, supporting communities and livelihoods in areas where the company operates.
Building for Long-Term Energy Security
KPC’s role extends from transporting petroleum and supporting regional markets to investing in community development and exploring new areas of energy logistics.
As Kenya and its neighbours pursue economic growth, reliable petroleum infrastructure remains essential to keeping goods, businesses and industries moving.
By strengthening its core operations while exploring new commercial opportunities, KPC continues to play an important role in Kenya’s energy security and regional trade.
