Kiraitu’s Water Projects Almost Coming To Fruition In Meru
Meru Governor Hon. Kiraitu Murungi was joined by Cabinet Secretaries for Water and Irrigation, Madam Sicily Kariuki and Prof Margaret Kobia of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs to witness the signing of a Conditional Liquid Support Grant Agreement (CLSGA) between Water Sector Trust Fund, the Government and Meru Water and Sewerage Services (MEWASS).
This agreement will improve the supply and distribution of water to people in Muriri, Tigania East, Giaki in Imenti North, Nkubu and Kanyakine in Imenti South at a cost of Ksh 72 million.
The legislators later visited and inspected the progress of the ongoing construction of Kiirua Buuri Water Project in Buuri Sub County and Mweru Umoja Irrigation Project in South Imenti Sub County.
Once complete, these mega projects will supply water to many households for purposes of irrigation. This will eventually boost the livelihoods of our farmers since they will have plenty of water to plant a variety of crops.
