Kiraitu On The Move To Unlock Miraa Market…

Trade and Enterprise Development Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina earlier said that the Government of Kenya is working closely with the Djibouti Government which might be the next country to allow Miraa exports from Kenya.

In regard to this, Governor Kiraitu Murungi has been actively pursuing avenues to unlock the Miraa market stalemate. Led by his deputy Titus Ntuchiu, a meeting was held with leaders of Miraa Stakeholders from Igembe region who paid a courtesy call to the Government at the County Headquarters.

Kiraitu On The Move To Unlock Miraa Markets…

Some members of this delegation will be traveling to Djibouti together with officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industrialization, and Enterprise Development in order to seek a new market for Miraa as part of the efforts by our Governor. This will be followed by trips to the Congo and Mozambique.

During the meeting, the strengthening of the Miraa Sacco issue was also discussed; which the county government has already given a seed capital to empower Miraa stakeholders. The county government under the leadership of Governor Kiraitu is fully committed to seeking a lasting solution to the challenges facing Miraa so that the people of Igembe can be empowered in line with the vision of Making Meru Great.
