600 Young Kenyans Trained During Two-Day Eldoret Bootcamp

Safaricom, through its youth platform Hook Circle, held a two-day bootcamp at Ol’Lessos National Polytechnic in Eldoret. The event brought together 600 young participants from the Rift Valley.

The training focused on building hands-on skills in technology, career development, and culture. It is part of Safaricom’s mission to empower youth through digital tools and opportunities.

“We are creating spaces where youth can explore their passions, sharpen their skills, and connect with real opportunities,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer. “Hook Circle is more than a bootcamp it’s a platform for empowerment, inclusion, and innovation.”

She noted that the program, especially in engineering and tech, is helping to prepare a new generation to lead Kenya’s future.

Training, Mentorship, and Real-World Skills

The Rift Valley edition was held in partnership with Google Africa and Safaricom’s Technology Team. Together, they led mentorship sessions, technical demos, and practical workshops.

The Safaricom Care team also explained how Hook Circle operates and how youth can benefit. By the end of the bootcamp, participants earned certificates in ICT and Building & Civil Engineering credentials that support job readiness or further studies.

Growing National Impact

Hook Circle is a series of bootcamps that link young Kenyans to opportunities in tech, entrepreneurship, and culture. Since its 2023 launch, the program has reached over one million youths in counties like Meru, Mombasa, Nairobi, and Nyeri.

Safaricom plans to expand the initiative across all 47 counties. Young people aged 10 to 24 can join by dialing *555# or signing up through the Safaricom App.
