Finally!! TSC Extends Paternity And Maternity Leave Durations For Its Workers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has granted female teachers an additional month of maternity leave and male employees an additional week of paternity leave following childbirth.
Female employees will now be entitled to four-month maternity leave, while male employees will receive three weeks.

As it stands, men are entitled to only two weeks whilst their female colleagues are given three months.
The changes, according to the commission’s chair, Nancy Macharia, came as a result of a charter agreement for the years 2021-2025, with the changes aimed at improving the education sector.
Similarly, any parent who adopts a child will be given a 45-day leave under the agreement.
All teachers, however, will be required to submit their leave requests early enough to allow for the allocation of vacancies in their respective institutions.
