NCBA Slashes Interbank Transfer Costs with Revised PesaLink Pricing

Customers using the NCBA NOW App can now send up to KES 1,000 through PesaLink for free, while transfers above KES 1,000 attract a flat KES 20 fee.

NCBA Bank has introduced revised PesaLink pricing for customers using the NCBA NOW App, making instant interbank transfers simpler and more affordable.

Under the new pricing structure, customers can send up to KES 1,000 for free. Transfers above KES 1,000 will attract a flat fee of KES 20.

The new structure also removes multiple pricing bands. As a result, customers can know the cost of a transfer before sending money to an account held at another bank.

Making everyday transfers more affordable

The revised PesaLink pricing comes as more customers turn to digital banking for everyday payments.

Kenyans increasingly use digital channels to pay rent, settle supplier invoices, send money to family and friends, and pay for goods and services.

For customers making smaller payments, the free KES 1,000 threshold provides an opportunity to move money between banks without a transfer fee.

Meanwhile, the flat KES 20 charge for higher amounts gives customers a predictable cost when making larger payments.

Free transfers within NCBA

The new PesaLink pricing complements NCBA’s existing free transfers between NCBA accounts.

Customers can therefore move money within the bank at no cost. They can also use PesaLink when sending funds to accounts held at other participating banks.

This gives customers more flexibility when choosing how to make payments.

PesaLink offers real-time transfers

PesaLink enables customers to send money instantly between bank accounts across participating financial institutions in Kenya.

Through the NCBA NOW App, customers can send up to KES 999,999. The service provides a digital alternative to traditional bank transfers for both personal and business transactions.

The real-time service can also help customers avoid delays when making time-sensitive payments.

Supporting digital banking adoption

Dennis Njau, Group Director, Retail Banking at NCBA, said the revised pricing reflects the bank’s focus on making digital banking more accessible.

“At NCBA, we are constantly looking for ways to make banking simpler, more affordable and more relevant to our customers’ everyday lives,” he said.

He added that the new pricing gives customers greater clarity when making digital payments.

“Whether someone is sending a small amount to a loved one or making a larger business payment, they can now transact with greater confidence, knowing exactly what the transfer will cost.”

A simpler way to send money

The revised pricing forms part of NCBA’s wider digital banking strategy.

By simplifying PesaLink charges, the bank aims to encourage customers to use secure digital payment channels for everyday transactions.

Customers using the NCBA NOW App can now make PesaLink transfers of up to KES 1,000 for free. Transfers above KES 1,000 cost a flat KES 20.

For customers looking for a simple and predictable way to send money between banks, the revised pricing offers another digital payment option.
