Recognised for advancing inclusive special needs education under sustainability, and for delivering authentic, high-quality black tea.

Recognition for Sustainability

Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) https://www.easternproduce-kenya.com/ has once again earned international acclaim. The company won the 2025 Tea Sustainability Award and the Gold Medal Tea Competition categories at the Annual North American Tea Conference (NATC).

These awards highlight EPK’s leadership in both sustainable impact and world-class tea production.

The NATC Sustainability Award celebrates organisations making measurable, lasting community impact. EPK received the award for its Special Needs Education Project (SNE).

This initiative has transformed learning for more than 700 learners across seven schools in Nandi County, Kenya.

EPK collaborates with schools, parents, and government partners to promote inclusive education. It provides specialised classroom furniture, boarding facilities, instructional materials, and nutritional support for learners with special needs.

“These international awards are a testament to the dedication of our teams on the ground and the resilience of the communities we serve,” said Leah Kibii Chirchir, Company Director, EPK.

“It underscores our vision of creating meaningful change that goes beyond business to touch lives and build inclusive opportunities.”

This honour adds to EPK’s history of recognition. The company previously won for What a Good Education Means in 2024, secured runner-up positions for environmental projects in 2019 and 2023, and earned a win in 2017 for Supporting Smallholder Tea Farmers.

Global Recognition for Tea Quality

Alongside its sustainability award, EPK also celebrated victory at the 2025 Gold Medal Tea Competition. Its Black CTC (BP1) from the Kepchomo Factory clinched first place globally. The competition honours the finest teas worldwide, judged on quality and craftsmanship.

“These awards reflect both our heritage as quality tea growers and our responsibility as community partners,” added Leah.

“They affirm our belief that sustainability and quality go hand in hand, from the farm to the community, and ultimately to every cup of tea enjoyed globally.”

Looking ahead, EPK remains committed to its sustainability programmes. At the same time, it continues to produce teas that meet the highest international standards.
