EPK Invests KSh 26M to Boost Education in Nandi County
Expanding Access to STEM Education
Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) has invested KSh 26 million in education in Nandi County. The company recently commissioned an ICT lab at Taboiyat Senior Secondary School and three science laboratories at Chemomi, Siret, and Kaputi Junior Schools. These facilities, worth KSh 7 million, aim to enhance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
Over the past eight months, EPK has funded various school projects and scholarship programs. This initiative aligns with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) rollout, ensuring students develop practical skills essential for the future.
Speaking at the handover event, EPK’s Company Director, Leah Kibii Chirchir, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to inclusive education. “We continue to support special needs education by providing instructional materials and classroom furniture to Kibabet, Nandi Hills Township, and Lelwak Primary Schools,” she stated. The event was presided over by Tinderet MP Julius Melly.

Scholarships and Long-Term Commitment
EPK has expanded its scholarship program by adding four new students, including one with special needs. This brings the total number of beneficiaries to seven. The program supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) by promoting equitable, quality education for all.
“Our investment in education fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Science laboratories in junior schools will provide students with hands-on learning under the CBC curriculum,” Mrs. Chirchir noted.
She added, “Education drives economic growth and social stability. By promoting lifelong learning, we empower future generations and contribute to sustainable development.”
