The Danger Of Comparing Yourself To Others.

Comparing yourself to others is arguably one of the most damaging habits an individual can form.

Constantly judging your achievements against successful superstars often leads to low self-esteem.  In life, there is always going to be someone subjectively “doing better” than you, and if you judge yourself by those standards, you’re never going to feel good about yourself.  This can lead to a downward spiral of giving up on goals because you feel you can never measure up.

Also, you might think that comparing yourself to people who are “beneath you” will help you achieve goals.  While it may help your self-esteem, people who belittle others often become too egotistical.

I know that just telling you to stop comparing yourself to others is easier said than done. In today’s world, with social media and how everything seems to be on full display for the world, it can be easy to compare yourself to others.

But, you need to stop doing it in a negative way.

By doing so, you’ll be able to move on with your life, reach your goals, be happy for others, and more.

Sure, you may not be able to reach a goal as quickly as someone else or it may require more hard work, but that doesn’t mean that everything is impossible for you. Everyone is on a different path, and there are people who are better or worse off than you.

There is one thing that you’re better at than other people: being you. This is the only game you can really win.

When you start with this mindset the world starts to look better again. No longer are you focused on where you stand relative to others? Instead, your focus and energy are placed on what you’re capable of now and how you can improve yourself.

When you stop comparing between people and focus internally, you start being better at what really matters: being you. It’s simple but not easy.

Want to feel good about yourself? Do this…

  1. Be happy for others
  2. Be motivated not competitive
  3. Take a break from social media
  4. Be confident
  5. Take control of your finances
  6. Be positive and happy with who you are
  7. There is no such thing as a perfect life
  8. Think about your dream life

The most important things in life are measured internally. Thinking about what matters to you is hard. Playing to someone else’s scoreboard is easy, that’s why a lot of people do it. But winning the wrong game is pointless and empty. You get one life. Play your own game.
