From BBI To ‘Azimio La Umoja’.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is also the leader of the Orange Democratic Party has launched a national unity plan dubbed ‘Azimio La Umoja’ a political and governance framework to ensure Kenya’s economy works for all citizens.

While in Nakuru County Raila said the plan dubbed ‘Azimio La Umoja’ was to address the problems afflicting Kenyans.

He added “The journey we start today is intended to create the political and ideological unity that we require to confront the problems afflicting our people,”

The framework launched today is also meant to address the problems afflicting Kenyans in a sustainable manner, bringing the diversity of all Kenyans, their leaders and their problems onto one table and embark on a systematic and transparent search for solutions, as equal stakeholders.

In his plan, the premier said, “we need to build a nation where leaders exist to serve people and not lord over them. A nation where meritocracy shall replace mediocrity and nepotism, a country with Zero tolerance to corruption.”

In a speech to residents, he also reiterated that no one can stop reggae.

Raila said he is ready for any ruling from the Court of Appeal on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

The Court is set to rule on their appeal on Friday in an open court restricted to 16 lawyers due to the COVID-19 protocols.

The BBI appeal was filed by Raila, the BBI Secretariat, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The appeal followed a ruling by the High Court that declared the constitutional amendment bill null and void, citing numerous illegalities in the process.

He was accompanied by Governors Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) and MPs Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Maoka Maore (Igembe North), Maina Kamanda (Nominated) as well as former MPs Njenga Mungai (Molo) and Peter Kenneth (Gatanga).

Also present were ODM Party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh among others.
