Tanzania Declares Two Days Of National Mourning Following Death Of Mwai Kibaki

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has declared two days of national mourning following the death of Kenya’s former President Mwai Kibaki.

In a statement signed by Tanzania’s State House Director of Presidential Communications Yunus Zuhura, the national mourning in the neighboring country starts on Friday, April 29, 2022, until April 30, 2022.

The flag will fly at half-mast across the country and at all Tanzanian diplomatic missions abroad during the two-day national mourning period.
President Suluhu sent her condolences to Kenyans, urging Tanzanians to join in solidarity.

“President Samia conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the people of Kenya and urged Tanzanians to join in solidarity with their neighbors during this difficult period as they mourn the death of their former leader,” the statement reads in part.
