New directives as cases escalate
Today, Kenya has recorded 66 positive coronavirus cases which is the highest number since day one. The situation continues to escalate and this is a worrying trend.
Arising from this and in order to contain further spread of the virus, the National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus (NERCC) has directed that;
- Malls, eateries, and restaurants remain closed and hawking prohibited until Saturday the 6th of June 2020.
- An extension of cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh in Nairobi until Saturday 6th June 2020.
- An extension of cessation of movement in and out Old Town Mombasa until 6th June 2020.
The 66 positive cases have been obtained from 2,621 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 49,405 the total number of samples tested to date, and the cumulative caseload is 1,029.
Spread of the positive cases in counties include Mombasa (30), Nairobi (26), Busia (1), Kisii (1), Uasin Gishu (1), Nakuru (1), Kirinyaga (1) makueni (1) and Meru (1)
