Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has awarded Mbogi Genje a Gengetone rap group a new MacBook laptop and promised to put up a studio for the talented crew.
While the legislator assured to follow up on his promise by building a studio for the group, he revealed the group had written 10 songs and he was going to help them in the production.
Sonko also wanted to help them establish an operational base in their estate and find them gigs where they could perform when need be.
The governor said “I’m delivering the promise I made to Mbogi Genje Music Group from Umoja. Empowering them with a brand new MacBook Pro which they will be using to edit their work before setting up a fully equipped recording studio for them,”
He added “To ensure sustainability, I will facilitate them to establish an operating base in their neighborhood, while utilizing my networks to help them secure corporate and private gigs where they will be earning,”
Photos of the handover event were shared on the politician’s Instagram page alongside a message saying he was delivering on his promises.
