What is your thought about tattooing?

Tattooing remains a widely practiced art in the world, a practice that is quickly gaining traction in Kenya. Many young people are seeking to have their bodies tattooed.

People tattoo animals like spiders, snakes, lions and butterflies, writings like bible verses or the names of their loved ones while others tattoo dates to remember something critical that happened in their lives like deaths of their children or parents.

This means that tattoos depict something.

While asking if getting tattoos is a sin, it will depend on who you are asking. Some Christians say it is a sin. Referring to the bible, Leviticus 19:28, that says, “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.”

Leviticus 19:28

Today, does this verse have any relevance for us? Anyone getting a tattoo really needs to ask themselves, why am I getting this and what is the meaning of this tattoo?

Nonetheless, some Christians will argue that tattooing is not a sin since some tattoos are in the praise of the highest. They debate that in the bible, Revelation 19:16 says  “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”  Which means Jesus too has a tattoo on His thigh.

Amid the debates on whether to have tattoos inscribed on your body remains a personal decision. We should never try to push our personal convictions on others. Eventually, the decision is between you and God.

    1. Thank you Miss Kithinji. It is worth reading

  2. Tattooing has been practiced since Before Christ. I tend to believe that trying to portray tattoos as demonic, was a technique used by the coloniser to stop people from expressing themselves.
Tattoos are not demonic they are a form of art!

    1. You nailed it, Miss Scates. Thank you for the read.

  3. Misleading… Why…. Because you are quoting revelation 19:16, which is not true to say Jesus ‘had’ a tattoo, yet events of revelation are in the future, not past.. Read the Bible wisely, ask the Holy Spirit to help you

    1. Revelation 19:16, From this verse, some people have concluded that Jesus has a tattoo on His thigh. Some have also used this verse to justify tattoos being ok for followers of Jesus. Could there be any merit to the idea that Jesus has a tattoo?
Your point might be/ not correct Mr.
      Thank you for the read.
