Curfew to commence at 4 am and end at 8 pm within these counties

President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared a cessation of movement in five counties which include Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos,  Kiambu and Nakuru counties.

These counties that have been noted as disease infected area have been put under the cessation of movement for the next 30 days

“If you test 100 Kenyans for Covid-19, 20 will test positive. Rate of infection up 10 times,” he said.

Uhuru says that Kenya’s COVID-19 positivity rate has jumped tenfold from 2.6% in January to 22% in March.

Nairobi has been noted as the worst where six out of ten tests positive.

“Nairobi county accounts for nearly 60% of all recorded cases. This means that out of 5 people, 3 are more likely to positive for COVID-19 disease,” he said.

Special passes have been nullified and asked to be reviewed again.

Operations of bars, the sale of alcohol in restaurants and eateries have been prohibited and suspended in the 5 Counties until further notice.

All public gatherings and in-person meetings of whatever nature are suspended until further notice.

That all physical/In-person and congregational worship in ALL places of worship stands suspended until otherwise notified in these Counties

With respect to Education in Kenya, there shall be the immediate suspension of all on-going physical learning in all our education institutions including universities and tertiary and vocational colleges, other than for candidates sitting for their examinations and those in medical training institutions, until otherwise notified.

Uhuru says the death rate is devastating despite the measures with the third Wave expected to flatten by mid-May 2021.
