WHO regrets Trump funding halt as global coronavirus cases top 2 million

The World Health Organization (WHO) leadership has expressed a disappointment of Trump’s decision to cut funding to the body saying it was unfortunate remarks as the health body is not only fighting COVID-19 but also many other diseases and conditions.

Trump earlier accused the WHO of severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the diseases in China as he announced that he would cut funding.

The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he regrets U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to pull funding for the agency, but that now is the time for the world to unite in its fight against the new coronavirus.

The United States is the global public health biggest donor contributing more than ten million dollars a year about 10% of the organization’s budget.

It is the world’s worst-affected country with the fatalities having doubled in just a week.
