Day 60 since the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Kenya.
It is now a solid two months since the first case of COVID-19 was recorded in the country completely altering our daily lifestyles. People have been advised to stay at home and to regularly wash hands among other measures.
Kenya’s economy has been impacted negatively and livelihoods destabilized which is not happening only in Kenya. All countries that are fighting COVID-19 have had to contend with them.
The government through the Ministry of Health has expanded national testing capabilities from the initial two testing laboratories to sixteen and is in the process of expanding them further.
The county governments have also expanded their level of preparedness to effectively manage the disease at the community level. They have established and equipped isolation and quarantine facilities across the country.
However, the total number of confirmed positive cases in the country stands at 700 after 28 persons tested positive. Ten (10) cases are from Mombasa, Nine (9) from Kajiado, seven (7) from Nairobi, and two (2) from Wajir.
Twelve (12) people have been discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 251 and sadly one (1) patient passed on bringing the total number of deaths to 33.
