Meru County Awarded Best Nationally In Inclusion Of People Living With Disabilities(PWDs)
The County Government of Meru has bagged an award of the best county nationally in the inclusion of People Living With Disabilities(PWDs)during the just-concluded Diar Awards 2020, themed “Celebrating everyday inclusion in the workplace and the society”
The award is aimed at recognizing champions and making positive engagement in the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards & Recognition, to ensure that nobody is left out because of their age, gender, disability, or ethnic background.

speaking during the occasion, Linner Nkirote, CEC Gender, and Social Development said Meru county got selected among the top counties that has implemented projects that demonstrate diversity and inclusivity for the PWDs.
“Actually this award has been accorded to us because we have not just passed a PWD act but made concrete steps to actually implement it” Nkirote said.
Mike Makarina, the chair PWD board hailed Governor Kiraitu Murungi for his efforts to meet the needs of the people living with disability in Meru county, his government has created a PWDs policy to protect their interests.
The two were accompanied by the Chief Officer Gender Mrs. Florah Nyagah, Director Gender madam Janice Mwiti during the awarding ceremony sponsored by DaimaTrust Limited.
