You probably didn’t know that this creamy high protein, low-fat food called yoghurt is one of the most versatile dairy products in your fridge. Yoghurt has so many varieties too!

There’s the traditional unstrained yoghurt, Greek yoghurt, goat milk yoghurt, soy yoghurt, kefir, etc. Other than drinking it straight from the tub, there are so many other ways you can make use of yoghurt. Here are five great ones:

1. Enhance soups and stews

Adding yoghurt into your soup/stew is a great way to thicken it up and just make it fuller. Be careful not to boil the soup once you’ve added the or yoghurt or it may split.

2. As a marinade

You can use yoghurt to marinate almost everything. Simply blend it in with your herbs and spices and rub the mixture onto your meats. The marinade penetrates perfectly into proteins, amplifying flavour and moisture.

3. Use in the place of Mayonnaise

No mayonnaise? You can use yoghurt in its place. Use it in your potato salad, chicken salad and tuna salad. It even contains fewer calories than mayo.

4. Use it on hair

The hair gurus you see putting yoghurt in their hair are onto something. There are so many benefits to including yoghurt in your hair regimen.

They include the elimination of dandruff, moisturising your hair, making the hair shiny, soothing itching and many more.

5. Relieve sunburn

Yoghurt contains healthy enzymes and probiotics that work wonders on the skin. Just take plain, unflavored yoghurt and apply it on sunburned skin, let it sit for around fifteen minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Instant relief.
