Kwale Mombasa Lockdown hunger

Kwale Mombasa Borderline
The borderline

The Lockdown effects on Kwale Mombasa residents.

Corona Virus has become a global pandemic with over 50 African countries affected. Kenya is among them with 216 reported cases and 9 deaths. However, President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed a cessation of all movement by road, rail or air in and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area and the counties of Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa.

The borderline

Kwale and Mombasa cutline residents say they are the most affected as they have run out food since the government instituted a lockdown as they cannot cross to either county.  The residents say they are devastated by the move yet they have to survive.

The use of undocumented routes by the residents is the only means to have access to food but this has come to an end as the police are closing in. They are now appealing to the government to provide them with relief food.
